Résumé : |
The purpose of this chapter is to describe the mining sector’s role in development and social change in Indonesia and its contribution to promoting or retarding sustainable development. A major focus of this chapter is the implementation of environmental policy in a developing country such as Indonesia. One scholar named Dwight King has suggested that actual policy implementation is often difficult in developing countries because they lack the institutional infrastructure and other resources needed to translate generalyzed policy into specific actions needed for successful implementation, thus many developing countries have laudable objectives for environmental enactments and regulatory schemes, however these don’t lead necessarily to environmental protection on the ground. |
