In this chapter, the author examines the strategies of the japanese electronics industry in rapidly evolving asian markets. The second section considers locational environments of japanese electronics firms in Asia from market and nonmarket perspectives. It identifies the major characteristics of the japanese electronics industry, the advancement of japanese electronics firms into Aasia and recent policy-oriented conditions. The third section investigates what corporate strategies japanese electronics firms have adopted in order to secure their presence in Asia and respond to changing environments for their business operations. It examines japanese electronics firms’ market strategies to raise the efficiency of their operations in Asia. At the same time, it highlights their nonmarket strategies designed to strengthen their position in Asia by utilizing linkages with the japanese government. |
