The new equation represents a global treatment of both phases being the representative velocity of the mixtures the continuous phase velocity. Based on this new proposal, a new energy balance for a one-dimensional, two-phase flow with mass exchange at steady state has been derived. The new expressions are tested against experimental boiling water data. A strong dependence between the void fraction and a modified expression of the quality of the steam-water flow has been found.
