New algorithm for the discrete ordinates method : application to anisotropic scattering media of irregular geometry / M. Sakami
Titre : New algorithm for the discrete ordinates method : application to anisotropic scattering media of irregular geometry Type de document : texte imprimé Auteurs : M. Sakami, Auteur ; A. Charette, Auteur Année de publication : 1998 Importance : p 247-255 Langues : Anglais (eng) Catégories : MATHEMATIQUE-PHYSIQUE-CHIMIE Mots-clés : METHODE ALGORITHMIQUE DISCRETE ORDINATES METHOD (DOM) Résumé : In this paper, the effect of Mie anisotropic scattering on radiative heat transfer is studied using a new algorithm based on the discrete ordinates method. A gray absorbing, emitting and anisotropically scattering medium is enclosed in cavities of regular and complex geometry. The phase function is approximated by a finite series of Legendre polynomials. The key feature of the new technique is the utilization of general characteristic equations which replace the classical spatial differencing schemes and makes possible the use of triangular grids which can be fitted to any geometrical enclosure. An assessment of the method is given by comparing the results with those obtained by other authors . The method proves to be general and accurate.
