Flow and temperature fields have been computed in a two-dimensional rectangular channel with a ribbed wall by solving numerically three dimensional nonsteady Navier Stokes and energy equations. Reynolds number, the lateral boundary conditions and the width of the channel have been varied. Results indicate that both instantaneous and time averaged three dimensional structures appear irrespective of the lateral boundary conditions (symmetry or periodicity). |
