A variety trial was conducted at three locations in Botswana in the 1993/94 season in which 15 varieties of pearl millet were compared to Serere 6A and the farmers’ local landrace variety (LLV) as controls. The sowing of a demonstration plot at Etsha 8 confirmed that improved varieties SDMV 89004, at a yield of 1267 kg/ha and ICMV 88908 at 798 kg/ha should be considered as pre-release varieties because of their superiority to other test varieties. |
